Introduction

ARM Ltd (http://www.arm.com) and the University of Liverpool are offering exciting and generous scholarship and internship opportunities for one or two students from India to study for a microelectronics masters degree at the University of Liverpool undertaking their project work as a paid intern at ARM R&D in the UK.  This scholarship has been offered for the past six years and profiles for the previous recipients provide a useful insight. Scholarship Package

  • £6,200 ARM R&D award and £1000 University of Liverpool India Award (to be deducted from the tuition fees).

  • Guaranteed 4 month internship with ARM R&D in Cambridge, UK with graduate intern level salary (June to September).

  • Total package (ARM scholarship + India award + paid internship) approximately equal to the cost of the tuition fee.

Eligibility

Scholarships are open to students holding an offer for the MSc(Eng) Microelectronic Systems (preferred) or MSc(Eng) Microelectronic Systems and Telecommunications at the University of Liverpool's Department of Electrical Engineering and Electronics for September entry.  Applicants should also have:

  • A keen and demonstrable interest in computer architecture, computer micro-architecture, compilers, operating systems, C and assembly languages, algorithms and data structures.

  • A high first class or first class with distinction BE, ME, BTech or MTech degree in a relevant subject (including Computer Science if computer hardware electives have been studied).

  • Relevant work experience in embedded systems, system on chip or IC design.

  • MSc candidates are expected to have prior knowledge of digital systems, CMOS transistor circuits and signal processing topics.

  • Good English language skills (minimum IELTS 6.5/TOEFL 230 + ER 4.0 or 70% in English at Standard XII from national or metro state boards).

Background

The deadline for online applications is 19th May 2012.  After that date, only face to face applications will be accepted when Dr John Marsland visits Bangalore (20th-21st May), Hyderabad (22nd-23rd May) and Chennai (24th-26th May).
